The achievement of downstream industry development of nickel and bauxite is in an advanced. Hence there is no need of relaxation plan for both in term of exports based on the internal review of mineral and energy ministry that both mainstream of these mineral are well progressing, said luhut pandjaitan.
This acting minister of energy and mineral resources explained that relaxation termination for bauxite and nickel is almost finished but the government has not made the final decision. However, luhut said that there is strong indication leads to annihilation of the plan. Minister luhut needs a week to have a review and study of the case.
This ex coordinating minister of maritime stated that bauxite investment has progressed well with total investment Rp 5 billion even there is already derivative products such as stainless steel and more down stream products to be exported. Meanwhile total smelter nickel in the sate right now are 22 companies.
As for now the indonesia and philippines hold the control of more than 60% for world nickel trade. China imports 40-60% of nickel from indonesia and also that bamboo curtain country opens the downstream nickel industry in the state.
