Arcandra Tahar is officially holding indonesian citizenship. This ex minister of energy and mineral resources was officially approved his indonesian citizenship after the minister of law and human rights reported formally regarding Tahar's citizenship to president jokowi.
Minister of law and human rights, yasona laoly gave his report regarding the approval of indonesia citizenship to arcandra tahar based on the consideration of not letting this ex minister of energy and mineral resources to be stateless.
Yasona clarified that based on law 12/2016 article 23, 32-35 the principle of maximum protection and international agreement not letting the stateless status, ministry of law and human rights has to give official citizenship to arcandra.
Arcandra himself has lost his citizenship since august 15th, 2016. Previously the ex minister of energy and mineral resources issued the annihilation of USA citizenship and issued for indonesian nationality.
Why the recognition of Arcandra Tahar's Citizenship is closely related to jokowi's appointment for new minister of energy and mineral resources?
As we know the position of minister energy and mineral resources is still vacuum. The report of official indonesian citizenhip of arcandra to jokowi is indispensable to skim all the negative perception regarding his nationality. Definitely it would be different case if arcandra is not an ex minister of energy and mineral resources. What becomes the big question is that jokowi still not finding the substitution for the position while arcandra is in formal procedure to issue for indonesian nationality.
The speculation that is mostly to occur that jokowi is intentionally waiting for formal approval of arcandra as indonesian citizen then to reappoint placing again the position of energy and mineral resources.
How important then the figure of Arcandra for the post?
Definitely we are not lacking of the competent person to place the position. But arcandra seems to be the appropriate person to tackle all the issue of conspiracy and abuse in our energy and mineral sector. We remember that the appointment of arcandra was to place the position of his predecessor sudirman said, a bugaboo for oil and gas mafia. Sudirman was able to close down petral which is allegedly assumed to be the nest for mafia.
Then the appointment of arcandra to replace sudirman said who is notably successful in his ministry must be based on extra ordinary of tahar who knows better how to topple the issue within energy sector.
Most probably jokowi is to reappoint arcandra tahar to place the position of minister energy and mineral resources. Though jokowi himself denied the such issue. President jokowi said the he even have not yet called arcandra tahar on case of his nationality approval through formal letter of minister of law and human rights.
