Governor of bank central of indonesia agus martowardojo in shariah economic festival in surabaya claimed that indonesia shariah bank is the largest in the world.Agus in his speech also narrated the progress of sukuk hints the sluggish trend from 2009-2014 yet in 2015 it experienced rebound 39.4% and 29.8% in july 2016.
However BI governor explained that apprehensive slow down trend of shariah banking in the state which is in a line with the sluggish trend of global shariah bank.
In 2015, the growth of shariah reached the lowest point year on year 8.8% compared to the growth of conventional bank which is 9.2% yoy. The market share of shariah bank is also stagnant around 4.8%.
