The new appointed minister of energy and mineral resources urged PT PLN not to anymore focus on geothermal business, instead jonan said PLN should only concern in transmission of electricity.
Responding to the convey of minister jonan, the energy watcher yusril usman supported the statement. According to usman, pertamina under the coordination of mineral and energy resources ministry in fact has already sent the scholars to new zealand since 1974 to equip with sufficient knowledge about geothermal. Thus it is supposed to be pertamina who concerns with such business sector and not PT. PLN which focuses on electricity transmission.
Furthermore, usman claimed that pertamina is proficient in handling geothermal business such as in dieng, gunung rajabasa mountain and lahendong.
Minister of mineral and energy resources ignasius jonan said that PLN should focus more in project of 35000 mega watt of electricity distribution as has been set by government platform. This critics of jonan alluding the desire of PLN to provide more efficient electricity power plan by means of geothermal use. However, this ex transportation minister reasoned out that PLN will not focus if such company also engages in geothermal business.
