3.956 Indonesian cigarette companies are bankrupt since 2008

Suahasil nazara, head of fiscal policy said there were 4.669 cigarette companies operating in indonesia in 2008, yet recently only 713 companies are operating. This means 3.956 cigarette companies have gone bankcrupt, suahasil added, jakarta tuesday december 20th, 2016.

It has been three years the production of cigarettes going flat per year around 340 billion cigarettes. In fact, the crisis of economy affecting the decrease of habit to quit smoking. 

The cigarettes companies also are complaint against the government policies that are not lucrative for the growth of industry starting from the cigarettes tax. It causes the increase of cost thus the cigarette prices are going higher gradually every year making it difficult to be afforded by users.
