The ban of Metro Mini (Kompas 21/12/2015) and the signal of public transportation reformation in jakarta pertains to the decision of Jakarta Governor, AHOK to forbid Metro Mini Bus which are not in good condition technically. Aiming to reform the public transportation, AHOK started to evaluate the expediency of public transportation that have been signaled not in good condition to serve the mobility of public of jakarta.
Previous months, Governor Ahok ever released statement to integrate all the operators of transportation mode and creating a policy to hire the drivers. Through that policy governor AHOK wanted the drivers not to wait and pursue the passengers thus all of them have to stop and wait in a pointed bus stops. So far, the untidy stops of transportation like minibus arbitrarily has caused much the problem traffic congestion in this metropolitan city according to the governor.
The ban of Metro Mini and the signal of public transportation reformation in jakarta is just a good indication for the public, looking to the fact that unorganized system of transportation is the source of congestion and the increasing of accidents so far.
In response to the decision of the governor, all the drivers of Metro mini went on balk not to operate the buss in many parts of the City. In return, Governor Ahok gave a stern warning that if Metro Mini resist on their position to go on balk, he would let metro mini to stop then. In comply to the protest of the drivers, the governor signaled to hire them in promising amount of monthly wage.
The ban of Metro Mini and the signal of public transportation reformation in jakarta is the signal for entire country. This means, the urgency to establish well managed transportation has to push forward. In another occassion, minister of transportation, Mr JONAN also reminded the effort of government to start establish satisfying and improved mode of transportation. It's clear the untidy system of transportation so far has created a great problem of congestion and unsafety on the part of passengers.
For the author's opinion , Majority of public must agree on this. Series of fact of accidents are much caused by the condition of the vehicle that are not supposed to operate. Besides, the attitude of the drivers has become the public focus in which they have tendency to be reckless. This's surely not good on the part of passengers whose safety is not well guaranteed.
Moreover, the phenomenon of Metro Mini is not a cliche. There were no leaders puttings serious concern on this until Governer AHOK came up for reformation. Public have to be grateful having such Governor having so many breakthrough including in transportation mode of The metropolitan city.
